WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

Global Commercial Operations group within Bain. This group is not focused on traditional consulting case work, but rather enabling partners to deliver business objectives via technology and supporting processes.  

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM 

In this role you will be responsible for the configuration and pricing software development team. You will be working alongside the senior product manager, internal development team and engineering leadership. Your key stakeholders will include global business and finance leaders, practice leadership and partners. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead the ongoing development of our internal configuring and pricing software tool. This tool is critical in generating accurate and timely pricing quotes, directly impacting overall business performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product management, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Key responsibilities include:

  • Product strategy: define and communicate a clear product strategy for the internal configuring/pricing software, ensuring alignment with company objectives and user needs
  • Stakeholder collaboration: work closely with business leaders, engineering, practices, and finance teams to gather requirements, prioritize features, and ensure the tool meets the evolving needs of the business
  • Roadmap development: create and maintain a detailed product roadmap, outlining short-term enhancements and long-term strategic goals for the pricing software
  • Feature definition: translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and user stories, ensuring clear communication with the development team. Perform functional testing to ensure quality development of the requirements 
  • Project management: oversee the development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope
  • Performance analysis: leverage tools like Walk Me and Tableau to monitor and analyze the performance of the pricing tool, utilizing data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and drive decision-making
  • User training and support: develop training materials and provide support to internal users, ensuring effective adoption and utilization of the pricing software

ABOUT YOU

Education

  • Undergraduate degree with strong academic credentials and/or related software product management experience 

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in managing software products throughout their entire lifecycle is essential

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry/domain knowledge: familiarity with pricing strategies, and sales operations within professional service industry. Experience working with CRM, quoting, pricing tools.
  • Certifications: professional certifications in product management
  • Agile methodologies: experience with Agile development methodologies and tools

Experience for internal candidates: 

  • Previous experience in B2B pricing, technology, product development/management case work. Completion of product management courses or certifications. Familiarity with Agile development practices and tools. This role offers an excellent opportunity for internal candidates to transition into product management while leveraging their consulting background and business acumen.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated capability in identifying issues, developing solutions, and implementing changes effectively 
  • Solid understanding of technical software development processes 
  • Experience working in Agile project management
  • Fluency with modern design and development principles
  • Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to enhance product performance. Experience building reports in Tableau or similar tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with tools such as: Salesforce, Walk Me/Pendo, Jira/Trello, Figma are plus
