Make faster, better decisions and achieve superior ROI

Faced with a long list of big-ticket, make-or-break decisions across every facet of strategy and operations, telcos can no longer afford to spend weeks and months on old-school, labor-intensive analytics efforts that may or may not pay off.

That’s why we created Lumi, a breakthrough AI-powered platform that gives all your decision-makers incredibly detailed customer, competitive and network data & insights, so they can make faster, more accurate decisions that drive superior ROI.

Lumi is a quantum leap from traditional business intelligence and geospatial solutions. It integrates hyper-local analytics—on subscribers, technologies, devices, environmental constraints, and much more—with powerful data science and AI/ML capabilities.

Now your go-to-market organization can zero in on the most promising opportunities at incredibly granular levels. Critical 5G, fiber and cable infrastructure deployments can be mapped with unprecedented precision—down to the centimeter, across entire cities, states and countries.

Lumi helps you solve your toughest challenges and achieve fast and significant ROI across all your strategy, go-to-market, customer experience and network/technology investments. Decisions that once took weeks and months can now be made in days, and even minutes, at scale and with a level of precision that exceeds what’s humanly possible.

See for yourself—Lumi’s data visualization capabilities are as impressive as its analytics technology.

  • HEAVY.AI: The pioneer in accelerated analytics, its massively scalable converged analytics platform is critical to making Lumi fast, powerful and effortless to use.
  • QualComm: Committed to scalable and ubiquitous solutions, QualComm provides detailed simulations of network coverage and received user experience to help Lumi generate the technical insights that drive smart decisions.
  • Maxar: Maxar owns and operates the most sophisticated commercial imaging satellite constellation in orbit, collecting and quickly delivering premium-quality imagery and derived 3D geodata with consistent quality and accuracy at regional, national or global scale.

Client Results

  • Footprint expansion

    A Fiber Company Decides Where to Invest for Growth

    A broadband fiber company, looking to triple its footprint over three years, needed to quickly identify attractive new build markets. Using Lumi, we worked with FiberCo to:

    • Apply household-level competitive intensity information and demographics to predict terminal penetration for each customer evaluated;
    • Use AI to calculate the cable footage FiberCo would need to serve each home and estimate costs that accounted for neighborhood routing; and
    • Create a clustering optimization to develop an ideal internet routing registry (IRR) with continuous fiber coverage, avoiding overlap with competitive fiber providers

    The results: FiberCo identified more than 8 million US households and neighborhoods that achieved the IRR target in less than three months. The resulting build had a 3% higher ROI than the base case, with costs 20% lower. The models Lumi generated were operationally confirmed by FiberCo’s build team.

  • Increase take rate

    A Telecom Company Targets New Customer Segments

    Having launched a mobile broadband product and mass-marketed it with limited success, TelCo was struggling to justify additional investment. We worked with the company to identify and target customer segments most likely to respond to a new broadband offer by:

    • Creating a household-level segmentation capability, showing current service providers and levels of service available;
    • Measuring consumers’ likelihood to switch and willingness to pay, by segment; and
    • Deploying concept testing to assess the key success drivers and barriers to adoption by various segments.

    The results: TelCo’s new capability achieved greater than 90% accuracy in household-level segment identification. Among some segments, leaders discovered a 2.5 times higher propensity to switch. TelCo then targeted its marketing strategy to households where service expansion made economic sense.

  • Model tower growth scenarios

    A Tower Service Company Finds Room for Growth

    A company servicing towers for mobile network operators (MNOs) sought to evaluate the future value of its existing and future sites. Growing population and data usage drove demand in a country where power grids supplied only 45% of national electricity needs. We helped TowerCo by:

    • Leveraging satellite household density data and mobile coverage growth data to forecast MNO tenancy demand for new towers and co-locations;
    • Modelling multiple scenarios for tech evolution and population to predict MNO tenancy demand;
    • Exploring non-MNO energy-as-a-service adjacencies, quantifying unmet energy demand by analyzing satellite imagery and national grid maps; and
    • Using geospatial tower data to assess the feasibility of employing nearby TowerCo sites or off-grid energy infrastructure.

    The results: Lumi produced rapid site-level forecasts of energy and tenancy demand across about 75,000 towers over the next 10 years. TowerCo identified a $25 billion total addressable market for energy service companies, with a 17% increase in MNO energy demand due to 5G technology.
