WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

The Manager is an individual contributor responsible for envisioning, implementing, and adopting all features/functionality related to one larger or a few smaller products. This role represents the “voice of the customer,” maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog to ensure that everyone is working on tasks that maximize business value and deliver the most necessary fixes and functionality to all customers.  
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

 

Product Planning & Stakeholder Engagement (50%)

  • Distill high level roadmap set by Product Manager into a clear and actionable sequence of work
  • Ensure continuous communication with key firm and technology stakeholders to ensure alignment with roadmap and make right business decisions in the face of rapidly changing conditions and priorities
  • Research and define the customer segments served by the product(s). Develop a deep understanding of customer goals and the value customers derive from the product(s), as well as future opportunities.
  • Measure customer value/business outcomes through pilots, surveys, sprint reviews, KPI metrics, etc. to ensure product fulfills vision and rapidly change roadmap to match evolving needs
  • Create and execute end user communication, marketing, and training strategy, rapidly adapting based on feedback
  • Works closely with other Product Owners across TSG to drive synergies in our products, with the goal of reducing friction for end users 

Product Delivery (40%)

  • Motivate and inspire product teams by conveying the product vision and helping the team understand the business purpose
  • Maintains a clear, prioritized product backlog based on business value and the product roadmap, continuously reprioritizing to maximize total business outcome
  • Works with appropriate technical teams and third parties to deliver continuous feature releases & upgrades as well as optimizations to the core platform
  • (Vendor products) Works with technical teams and vendors to further integrate and simplify access/usability and review/optimize customizable settings and norms for maximum Bain team productivity

Domain knowledge (10%)

  • Develops, maintains, and demonstrates domain expertise, including both internal (Bain) and external (market) trends
  • Understands technical topics at a conceptual level - can collaborate with Technical product management team to inform a technology strategy that aligns with overall product strategy

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • 5-8+ years of progressive experience
  • 2-4+ years of experience in a product strategy, requirements intake (e.g. business analyst), process owner or customer facing role
  • Agile product owner certification preferred
  • Willingness to travel if needed
  • In-depth understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams ranging in seniority and create a consensus between stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, can explain complex requirements to engineering team or propose strategic direction to leadership team
  • Vendor management skills including holding them accountable for deliverables and pushing through roadblocks
  • Ability to understand complex business needs, competitive offerings, and industry trends and translate them to customer-facing solutions
  • Ability to use analysis to prioritize business value
  • Demonstrates a leadership mindset and has a positive influence on culture and morale across broader function
     

U.S. Compensation Information

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below).

Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:

  • In Atlanta, GA, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $126,000 – 150,500; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level
  • In Boston, MA, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $145,000 – 173,000; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, 
  • In Chicago, IL the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $138,500 – 165,500; placement within this range will vary licensure/certifications, training and skill level
  • In Dallas, TX the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $132,500 – 158,000; placement within this range will vary licensure/certifications, training and skill level
  • Annual discretionary performance bonus 
  • This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
  • 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
