WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

 You’ll join the Product, Practice and Knowledge (PPK) group in one of our practices. “Practices” are how we group and organize our solutions and products based on our clients’ industry or business function. They’re integral to how we win and deliver results to our clients and are a key strategic priority within our firm. Operations roles are critical in helping to drive and measure the strategic direction and operations of a practice.

 The Sustainability Practice is a global and transversal capability that cuts across all of Bain’s industries/capabilities. We help our clients make critical decisions that impact the core of their business strategy, related to sustainability strategy, the environmental and social impact of operations, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability-related growth and cost opportunities. WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

 This Operations Manager (OM) will report to the Internal Communications and People Engagement Senior Manager. The OM will help drive the execution of Bain’s sustainability leadership strategy by ensuring a strong presence at key global convenings, amplifying our impact during major sustainability milestones, and enhancing executive positioning through strategic content development, particularly on LinkedIn. 

 OMs independently manage global practice operations and collaborate with senior practice leadership to support the execution of strategy. Managers provide insights and recommendations to leadership, derived from high quality analysis and synthesis of data, and ensure progress against initiatives. 

 Responsibilities may include supporting strategic plan development and driving practice reporting, budget planning/execution, KPIs on intellectual property (IP), ecosystem partnerships, tools, etc. The Operations Manager may also play a role in the tracking and effective deployment of practice affiliates/experts/advisors, as well as commercial support. Managers support the content and planning for practice meetings, trainings, and calls. 

They oversee consistency and standards across practice, taking advantages of economies of scale and innovations creating ‘one single source of truth’ for practice leadership decision-making


WHAT YOU’LL DO 

 Strategic planning & execution for global convenings

  • Support the cross-functional planning and execution of the participation of Sustainability Practice delegates in major international events (e.g., Climate Week, COP30, WEF Annual Meeting)
  • Identify and drive on-the-ground executive positioning and collaboration opportunities for Bain’s sustainability delegates; provide additional support to sustainability delegates to maximize reach and impact
  • Anticipate challenges, identify roadblocks and problem-solve to keep initiatives moving forward 
  • Integrate AI tools to drive project management efficiency   
  • Interpret outcomes and develop insights on performance

Communications and engagement

  • Elevate Bain’s presence during global sustainability milestones (e.g., Earth Day, World Water Week), working cross-functionally and ensuring alignment with Bain’s commercial sustainability priorities
  • Develop and execute plans to enhance the executive positioning of Sustainability Practice leaders on LinkedIn by crafting compelling content, applying SEO best practices, and analyzing results
  • Ensure all content adheres to existing brand guidelines and brand voice
  • Monitor audience engagement data to refine strategies and optimize messaging
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance content creation, analyze data, and extract audience insights
  • Stay informed on sustainability trends, AI advancements, storytelling best practices, and practice achievements/priorities to sharpen messaging

 

Stakeholder management & coordination

  • Partner with senior leadership to track progress against practice priorities, providing insights and recommendations based on high-quality analysis
  • Collaborate seamlessly across Bain teams to align messaging on sustainability priorities (e.g., work with Marketing to amplify key sustainability messages in social media)
  • Work effectively cross-practice: coordinate seamlessly, ensure information-sharing, proactively flag roadblocks

Additional responsibilities

  • Support the professional development of juniors on team through coaching and performance feedback
  • Learn new tools and platforms as needed

ABOUT YOU 

Required:

  • Bachelor of Arts or equivalent undergraduate degree with strong academic credentials; MBA is a plus
  • Preferred 7+ years of professional experience, such as management consulting, public relations, marketing, project management, event planning, B2B sales, advertising, or related field
  • You are intellectually curious, with a keen interest in the role of sustainability in business strategy and operations
  • You possess the ability to manage, influence and advise senior stakeholders
  • You have very strong written communication and presentation skills, with a proven track record of making complex topics engaging 
  • You have strong strategic planning, project management, and performance measurement abilities, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality work while juggling multiple time-sensitive priorities 
  • You are skilled with data analysis and other tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, AI/GPTs/prompt engineering) with a command over Microsoft and automation applications (Excel, PowerPoint, CRM, SharePoint, PowerApps, Python) 
  • You have the maturity and integrity to manage confidential information and use technology in a responsible way (e.g. AI)
  • You can perform well under pressure and are solutions-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities
  • You drive experimentation and innovation
  • You can operate independently (comfortable with a remote supervisor, juniors, and wider team) when needed
  • You can work in a global team, collaborating with colleagues across the globe and in different time zones

Preferred:

  • You have knowledge of Bain’s processes and business functions (internal only)
  • You are familiar with key moments in the international sustainability landscape (e.g., COP30, Climate Week, Sustainable Development Goals, Earth Day)
  • You have experience using social media in a corporate context to advance business objectives and possess an understanding of SEO principles
  • You have a demonstrated ability to seamlessly adapt to shifting priorities, projects and deadlines 
  • You are a strong team player with a demonstrated ability to motivate team members and a willingness to be flexible in meeting the needs of the practice and stakeholders.
