Darren Johnson is an expert in the firm’s Agile Innovation and Enterprise Technology practices.
Since initially joining Bain in 2012, Darren has become one of Bain’s leading practitioners on Agile, DevOps, and IT operating model. He has led a wide variety of Agile transformations across both project-based and product-based teams, as well as multiple business and IT functions, for clients spanning such industries as retail, healthcare, telecommunications, airlines and financial services.
In addition to helping Agile teams attain a high level of maturity, Darren focuses on implementing the necessary Agile Enablers to support such teams. In this vein, he has helped multiple clients implement planning and budgeting models designed to support Agile at Scale.
He is Scrum- and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)-certified and has experience leading both executive-level and standard Agile training sessions.
Throughout his tenure at Bain, Darren has additionally served clients in the sports analytics, consumer goods, and software spaces. He has also spent time in the firm’s Private Equity Group.
Prior to joining Bain, Darren worked for a boutique management consulting firm. While there, his major client engagements included operations and strategy work for transportation and logistics providers, procurement and strategy for CPG manufacturers and healthcare payers, as well as private equity due diligence assignments.
Darren earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, from which he graduated with high distinction as a Baker Scholar. He also holds a BA in economics from Swarthmore College, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
